We have a house style and stay with it. A glass of wine should be about the grapes, and we want you to enjoy the first glass to the last.

Embracing + disrupting tradition

Each steward of Mazzoni Vineyards contributes to the rich Mazzoni history through their unique innovations while active guardians of the family legacy. As fourth generation premium grape growers Mark and Lisa hold a deep understanding and respect for the Geyserville property. A commitment to our estate vineyards and legacy informs the process and portfolio. In 2016 the sibling team broke ground on the winery, strategically building around ten unique open top concrete fermenters, a decision by winemaker Mark Mazzoni to create distinct wines influenced by old world techniques in a modern facility.

Our distinction

The majority of our estate vineyards are planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, alongside blocks dedicated to the Mazzoni clone of Zinfandel, Sauvignon Blanc, and our own field blend called Cappella. Our winemaking facility was built around ten open-top, concrete fermentation tanks that are the structural heart of the building and our unique distinction. The porous texture of the concrete allows oxygen that creates layers of flavor, while ambient yeasts add an active, live element that uniquely shapes our wines.

With a deep commitment to consistency and estate grapes, our wines will never experience style or site changes giving our portfolio a structure and stability altered only by the subtle changes in weather each year.

Zialena is the alchemy of family legacy, established estate vineyards, and the proven process of a seasoned winemaker all working together to cultivate wines of integrity and intention. We do not aim to grow beyond the capacity of what our land provides. Our production takes place entirely on the estate allowing us to remain hands-on from vine to wine.
