Garlic Bread

Garlic Bread

Recipe by Mike Mazzoni

Uncle Mike has become the person in charge of garlic bread at the Thanksgiving dinners our families have shared over the years. This, plus his Zialena wine pouring duties, keep him busy!

Ingredients

  • French bread

  • Butter

  • Garlic powder

Directions

  • Slice loaf of bread lengthwise, leaving it attached on one side.
  • Melt butter and spread evenly over both surfaces of bread. Sprinkle with garlic powder.
  • Close the bread and cut into slices, still leaving the loaf and individual slices attached on one side. Wrap in foil.
  • Warm in oven for 20 minutes at 350°. Serve hot.

Notes

  • A somewhat lighter garlic butter spread that retains the taste of butter is this tasty variation used at the Double Musky Inn in Girdwood, Alaska. Bring 2 cups of 60-40 butter-margarine blend to room temperature. Mix in 1/a cup dehydrated parsley (or fresh parsley if you have it) and ¼ cup garlic powder. Can be made ahead and refrigerated for 6 days.
